Apptrix Community License

This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) is a legal agreement between you and Apptrix Ltd governing your use of the Apptrix Community Build (the “Software”). It does not cover the commercial Apptrix product, which is licensed under the Apptrix EULA, nor the source code we publish under its own licence.

1. Grant of licence

Apptrix Ltd grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to install and use the Software to develop, build, test and distribute Open Source Projects, as defined below.

No registration or account is required. No fee is payable.

2. Open Source Projects

A project qualifies as an Open Source Project when all of the following hold:

1. Its source code, in the preferred form for modification, is published and available to the public at no charge.
2. It is distributed under a licence approved by the Open Source Initiative.
3. Nothing in its licence or distribution terms conditions the rights it grants on payment, on the purchase of another product, or on the identity of the recipient.

Building, teaching, evaluating, or contributing to such a project is covered by this licence, whether or not you are paid for that work.

3. Outside this licence

The Software may not be used to develop or build software that is not an Open Source Project. In particular, this licence does not permit its use to build closed-source, proprietary or internal-only applications, whether or not those applications are distributed.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this limitation;
• remove or alter any proprietary notice in the Software;
• redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease or sell the Software itself. This does not restrict the distribution of applications you build with it.

5. Applications you build

Apptrix Ltd claims no ownership of, and no licence to, the projects you create with the Software. Applications you build are yours, subject to the licences of any components you include in them — see, for example, the apptrix.org/components licence.

6. No AI or cloud services

The Software includes neither the Apptrix AI assistance features nor access to the Apptrix cloud build service. This Agreement grants no right to either.

7. No warranty

The Software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apptrix Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Software.

Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

9. Feedback

Any feedback, suggestions or ideas you provide about the Software may be used by Apptrix Ltd to improve its products, without obligation to you.

10. Intellectual property

The Software and all associated intellectual property remain the property of Apptrix Ltd. This Agreement grants you a right to use the Software, not to own it.

11. Termination

This licence continues until terminated. It terminates automatically if you breach any of its terms. On termination you must stop using the Software and remove all copies. Sections 5, 7, 8 and 10 survive termination.

12. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the law of Scotland, and the courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
